The Safe At Home course at Ancient City Education and Training by Safe Sitter® is a 90-minute program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.

Based on the nationally recognized Safe Sitter® curriculum, this 90-minute program teaches preteens how to practice safe habits and respond to potential dangers when home alone. Topics include recognizing unsafe situations, handling power failures or severe weather, stranger and door/phone safety, internet/screen-time guidelines, assessing emotional readiness, and using the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart to evaluate and manage basic injuries.

This course is ideal for preteens in grades 4–6 (ages 9–13) who are beginning to stay home alone for short periods or want to build responsibility and independence. It also provides parents with peace of mind knowing their children have a structured safety framework.

The class runs for 90 minutes and costs $40 at our training facility in St. Augustine, Florida. Class sizes are strictly capped at 8 students to ensure an interactive, age-appropriate, and supportive environment led by certified Safe at Home instructors.

Upon completion, each student receives an official Safe at Home Certificate of Completion recognizing their readiness for staying home alone safely.
